The shelter is open to the public from 10:00 AM to 5:30 PM, Tuesday through Saturday.  It is closed for lunch between 1 pm and 2 pm Tuesday through Friday.  The shelter is closed Sunday and Monday.

The El Cajon Animal Shelter houses stray or relinquished pets found within the city limits of El Cajon and La Mesa. Animals not claimed by their owners are placed up for adoption to the general public.
