Chief Of Police

Chief Jim Redman was born in San Diego, California. He graduated from El Capitan High School in 1977 and is a long time resident of El Cajon. The Department hired him as a Police Officer in 1988. He has worked Uniformed Patrol, Investigations, Crisis Negotiations Team, and Communications. He has held the ranks of Officer, Agent, Sergeant, Lieutenant and Captain.

Chief Redman received his Associate’s Degree in Administration of Justice from Grossmont College. He is a graduate of the Sherman Block Supervisors Leadership Institute and the Federal Bureau of Investigations National Academy, at Quantico, Virginia. He most recently completed the East County Chamber’s, Leadership East County Program in 2011.
