RESUME OF INCIDENT

On 03/13/08 at about 8:10 PM the female victim was returning to her residence after an evening of shopping.  She parked to the rear of her apartment complex in the 1000 block of E. Washington Avenue.  As she walked into the apartment complex she was approached by a Hispanic male in his late 20’s.

The suspect grabbed the victim’s arm causing her to scream. The suspect then grabbed the victim from behind and placed a knife to her throat. The suspect threatened to kill the victim, and forced her to the ground.  As the victim was pushed to the ground, she was stabbed in the neck. There is a possibility that the suspect did not intentionally stab the victim, because he fled the scene on foot after she was injured.

It does not appear that the motive for the attack was robbery, because no demands were made and nothing was taken from the victim.  Investigators believe that the suspect may have intended to sexually assault the victim. The victim was transported to the hospital where she was treated and released.

The suspect was wearing a blue button up collared shirt and dark colored pants as well as a dark colored baseball cap with the letters SD on it. The suspect had a dark colored goatee.

Please go to the El Cajon Police Open Case Page at www.elcajonpolice.org/OpenCases to view a composite of the suspect. No similar cases have been reported, and this appears to be an isolated case. Anyone with information on the identity of the suspect in this case is urged to call Detective Chris Baldwin at (619)579-3332.
